Revisit 2012: The Last Messenger APKs for Android 2.3 (Gingerbread)
If you are holding an old device like the Samsung Galaxy Ace, HTC Desire, or Sony Xperia Play, you know that modern apps no longer support Android 2.3. Most messengers now require Android 5.0 or higher.
Keep the Android 2.3 device offline as a music player or e-reader. For messaging, consider switching to SMS (text messages) only, as that is the only protocol still supported by 2.3's radio hardware.
However, if you want to use this retro device as a minimalist communicator, you have two legacy options. Modern encryption and cloud backups will not work here.
