After health, Allah gives you empty hours. The modern world fills them with phones, entertainment, and idle talk. Yet the Prophet ﷺ said: “Do not curse time (al-dahr), for Allah is the one who brings time.” (Muslim) That is, Allah is the controller of time. So do not waste it. Use your free time for reciting Qur’an, seeking knowledge, remembering Allah ( dhikr ), serving your parents, and calling to good.

Topic: “The Two Blessings Most People Take for Granted: Health & Free Time” Based on the sermon of the Prophet ﷺ and the understanding of the Salaf First Khutbah After health, Allah gives you empty hours
I advise you and myself to have taqwā of Allah—consciousness and fear of Him in secret and public. Allah says: “O you who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared and do not die except as Muslims [in submission to Him].” (Āl ‘Imrān 3:102) Indeed, the most truthful speech is the Book of Allah, and the best guidance is the guidance of Muhammad ﷺ. The worst of affairs are the newly invented matters (in religion), for every innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance leads to the Fire. So do not waste it
When a person is healthy, they think their health will last forever. They delay repentance, delay prayer, delay Hajj, delay giving rights to others. But Allah says: “And worship your Lord until there comes to you the certainty (death).” (Al-Ḥijr 15:99) The Salaf would say: “Take advantage of your health before your sickness, and your youth before your old age.” How many people were strong but fell ill? How many were active but became bedridden?
My brothers in Islam, the Prophet ﷺ said: “There are two blessings which many people squander: health and free time.” (Bukhārī) Look carefully—the Prophet ﷺ did not say “some people” or “a few people.” He said This is the state of the majority of mankind, and even many Muslims.
Make a small change today. Commit to 15 minutes of Qur’an after Fajr. Commit to attending a study circle ( ḥalaqah ) or listening to a lecture by the scholars of Sunnah—those who follow the way of the Companions, not the people of innovation.
