The story begins with Amanda Young (Shawnee Smith), a survivor of Jigsaw's first game, who is now obsessed with finding her next victim. She kidnaps Daniel Matthews (Erik Knudsen), a young man who is forced to participate in a new game.
As the game progresses, Daniel and Laura discover that Jigsaw's plan is much more complex than they initially thought. They are forced to confront their own dark secrets and make impossible choices to survive.
As the story unfolds, it becomes clear that Jigsaw's apprentices, Amanda and Daniel, are playing a deadly game of cat and mouse. The traps and puzzles become increasingly complex and gruesome, pushing the players to their limits.
Meanwhile, Agent Strahm (Scott Patterson), a determined FBI agent, is investigating the Jigsaw case. He is convinced that Jigsaw is still alive and is determined to catch him.
In a shocking twist, it is revealed that Agent Strahm has been playing Jigsaw's game all along. He has been manipulating the investigation to keep the police from finding Jigsaw, who is actually a corpse, dead from a brain tumor.
As Daniel navigates through a series of deadly traps and puzzles, he meets Laura Hunter (Beverly Mitchell), a mysterious woman who seems to be connected to Jigsaw. Daniel soon realizes that he is not just fighting for his life, but also for the life of his ex-girlfriend, Gina (Emmanuelle Vaugier), who has been kidnapped by Amanda.
