She hesitated. Free navigation apps usually came with a catch—ads, spyware, or outdated maps. But her interview started in 25 minutes. She scanned the QR code.
She slammed the brakes. A delivery truck barreled through the intersection a second later—a truck she would have hit if she'd followed her original route.
The screen flickered. For a moment, the map dissolved into a grainy photo: her late father, waving from the driver's seat of his old Fiat. Below it, text appeared:
