We are introduced to Emperor Bindusara, who favors his elder son Sushima – a prince with a cruel streak. In contrast, young Ashoka, son of Queen Dharma, is compassionate, brave, and deeply connected to common people.

The final scene shows Ashoka taming a rampaging elephant to save a child – a visual metaphor for his future ability to control wild forces, including his own anger.

Young Ashoka already shows courage beyond his years, while his brother Sushima burns with jealousy. Queen Helena schemes. Emperor Bindusara remains blind.

A promising start with rich character contrasts and historical intrigue. Highly recommended for fans of mythological/historical dramas.
